Road Trip Lovin'

Road Trip!!!!!

I definitely love a good road trip. Long, short, in between, whatever! I love just driving and taking in all of the scenery around me, and wondering what it's like to live in the small town or big cities that I pass through.

This weekend, my sister and I decided to take a spur of the moment road trip up to Fort Worth, TX to see our cousin and her gymnastics team compete at a meet on Saturday. We didn't decided to go until the absolute last second. I think those kind of spontaneous trips are always the best. You just put shoes on, grab your car keys and bag, and just go!

And that is exactly what we did! The meet started at 7, and we decided to go at around 3:30. And being that it takes almost 5 hours to get from Houston to Fort Worth, we were going to be a little late! But, that didn't matter. We were just looking forward to having a good time! The weather was not on our side at all. It started pouring rain as soon as it got dark on our way up, but it was kinda fun. Driving in the rain is not my favorite thing to do, especially at night, but this time it was probably one of the most fun drives ever. We had good music, and we were taking our time to get to our destination.

Once we finally got to Ft. Worth, we spent about 20 minutes walking around the city to try and find a bathroom. It was still raining and we were getting soaked, but the city was so beautiful that we didn't really care if we were getting wet. The view was well worth it.

After finding a bathroom and drying off, we walked back to where the meet was being held, and since we were SUPER late, we got in for free! We watched our cousin's team compete on balance beam, and then went out to dinner with them. It was so good getting to catch up with our cousin for a little while! We don't get to see each other that often anymore, so any chance we get, we will find a way to hang out.

Then when we were all done eating, my sister and I tried to find a place to stay for the night. That did not go over too well.

Almost every place in the city was booked, OR you had to be 21 or older to book a room. I'm only 20, so that wasn't working out. And the two places that did have rooms and would book to under 21, were over $200. Um, no thanks! By the time we tried every place we could find in Ft. Worth, it was about 12:30 a.m. and we were getting nowhere, so we decided to make the drive back home instead!

We grabbed some coffee and hit the road! Everything was going good for about 20 minutes, until the torrential downpour started.

It was raining so much and so hard that I couldn't even see a foot in front of me. I had to slow down to 40 mph on an 80 mph highway. So, we had to get off and try to find somewhere to stay again. Luckily, this time was way more successful and we found a place and were all settled in by 2 a.m. We got about 4 hours of sleep, and then went back on the road at 6 that morning. We grabbed some breakfast and coffee, and made the beautiful trip back to Houston.

This time around, it was all sunny skies! We got to see the sun rise and were about the only car on the road. It was so relaxing and gorgeous. We made it back to Houston by 10:30 and had some time to relax before the Super Bowl!

OH, and we had a count going on how many times we heard Ed Sheeran's "Thinking Out Loud", it was 29 times.

It was such a wonderful weekend and adventure! It is so important to take spur of the moment adventures in this life. Whenever you have the chance to travel, or go on a road trip, or even just exploring your city; take it!!! You never know what adventures it may bring. I'm so happy I got to take this little trip with my sister. It was a weekend well spent with good music, beautiful scenery, and amazing people.

xx
